information
Heritage and History
USA Weekend Magazine called Sedona "the most beautiful place to live in
America", and it's hard to
disagree. Situated at the base of Mogollon Rim, Sedona plays host to the Verde
River, the nearly twomillion-
acre Coconino National Forest, the winding roads of Oak Creek Canyon, and of
course, famous
towering red-rock monoliths. Many sandstone formations bear a striking
resemblance to the objects they
are named for, such as Cathedral Rock, Coffee Pot (the tallest point in Sedona
at 5600 feet), Bell, and
Snoopy.
Climate & Environment
Due to the areas elevation fo about 4,000 feet, Sedona is much cooler than
southern cities like Phoenix
and Tucson. Residents and visitors enjoy warm summers and mild winters. Even in
the coldest months,
the average daily temperature can reach a high of 55 degrees.
